Services in Detail:

Swedish:

The most common type of massage is Swedish therapy.  It involves soft, long, kneading strokes, as well as light, rhythmic, tapping strokes, on the top-most layers of the muscles.  This modality is also combined with movement of the joints.  By relieving muscle tension, Swedish therapy is both relaxing and energizing.  It is very beneficial to many, especially after an injury.

Deep Tissue:

If it doesn't "hurt so good", keep looking for the right therapist that is a good fit for your body.  For a good deep tissue massage, you should find a massage therapist that specializes in this area.  There may be some soreness after a deep tissue massage; however, the soreness should go away within a day or so.  The massage should not hurt, but will be a little more uncomfortable than a standard Swedish massage.  Deep tissue technique uses slower, more forceful strokes to target the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue.  Deep tissue is commonly used to help with muscle damage from injuries.  The focus is on the release of muscle tension and knots.

Cupping:

Glass Cupps are applied to the skin along the meridians of the body, creating suction as a way of stimulating the flow of energy

Reflexology:

Also referred to as "zone therapy", Reflexology is an alternative medicine, or pseudo-science, involving the physical act of applying pressure to the feet, hands or ears with specific thumb, finger and hand techniques, without the use of oil or lotion.  It is based on what reflexologists claim to be a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands, with the premise that such work affects a physical change to the body.

Thai:

A deep, full-body massage progressing from the feet up, and focusing on zen (energy lines) throughout the body. The intent is aimed at clearing blockages in these lines, and thus stimulating the flow of blood and lymph throughout the body.  This style of massage is more energizing and rigorous than most classic forms of massage.  It is very similar to the purposes of yoga.  The difference is that the therapist uses their hands, knees, legs and feet to move your body into yoga-like stretches.  Basically, you pay us to do all the work!  Be prepared to go into a trance-like state but when it is all over, you will feel refreshed, balanced and energized.

Sports Massage:

This is similar to a Swedish massage, but it is geared towards people involved in sporting activities, to help prevent or treat injuries.  In some cases, your therapist will stretch your legs, arms and neck to offer relief to strained areas caused from repetitive movement during sports or consistent workouts.  A well-trained therapist will offer relief in common areas such as biceps, hip flexors and sciatic nerve pain.  This type of massage will not only improve your flexibility, but also offers a boost of energy to keep you going.
